Who am I???
Hello, Kia Ora, Hallo, Nihao, Anyonghasaeyo, Namastae!
My name is Jihyun I am currently studying at the University of Auckland specialising in Primary Education. Teaching is my biggest passion. However, I believe that diversity is one of the biggest challenges that we face in the 21st century. Diversity today is something that we should be proud of in New Zealand.

I am originally from South Korea but I am very patriotic and proud to be a Kiwi. I call my self 'Kowiana' (Korean-Kiwi). I came to New Zealand when I was 10. I never imagined that one country can be so full of colours, different cultures and rich heritage. It is the most beautiful and colourful country.
My goal is to be a teacher who understands cultural perspective while maintaining close relationships between the teacher and the students. I want the students to understand that no matter where we come from, we are equal. I find learning about our identity and the roots we come from very interesting.
My family, friends and community are all a central part of my life. They are the ones to share love, and always be out there to help me, especially when times are hard and I am in need of help. My parents are important to me and I am so thankful for what they have done for me. They have always been supportive, guiding me through tough and hard times. My parents are my role models.
Time with my friends and work in the community have always kept me busy. This includes church and after mass activities, volunteering in the SPCA, working at retired villages, teaching first aid courses, being part of St John's youth group, teaching primary children in a Korean school NZ (North shore and East Tamaki), and finally, helping buddy walk annually.
In my spare time I send postcards around the world. I use this time to find out about the country and the individual living in that country. I currently have 6 close penpal friends from France, Germany, USA, Canada, Australia and Korea. Some are childhood friends while others are internet friends from my diary blogs.

I love learning about new cultures. I speak fluent in English and Korean, I am also learning Chinese, Japanese and German at home. My hobbies are trying out new languages and also I love art. From year 7-13 I was the art councilor . In 2010 we received $3500 art competition- in Auckland region. Top scholar for fashion designing in year 13. I will continue to use them in the future.
In addition, I was also involved in the Korean fan dance and I was the leader, sport council, music council, whanau council and art council in 2009-2012. In high school years I was actively involved in Young vinnies group, and I would always join the 40 hour famine every year. I have always been committed. I was in the basketball team, football team, badminton team, swimming competition, figure skating club, archery club and pottery club as a after school activity. In my spare time I often go and enjoy extreme sports! Tramping and Kayaking would be my favorite.
I am still challenging for new things and I am always ready.
